Funeral Celebrant

Give Your Loved One a Personalized,
Uplifting Farewell

I trained as a Funeral Celebrant to help give families a feeling of comfort, reassured in the knowledge that their loved one was respectfully honoured. This happens when the power of ritual, lovingly shared in the presence of friends and family, helps everyone to begin the healing process. Whether a traditional funeral or a celebration of life, I am proud to create fully personalized services which joyfully reflect the personality, interests and values of your loved one.

I take the time to learn as much as I can about the person. To get a true sense of their character, I want to learn about their passions, hobbies, likes and dislikes, idiosyncrasies, funny sayings, habits, etc. Undoubtedly, my most important skill for this is listening. Once I have a clear picture of the life lived, I can let the facts themselves help to set a positive tone. The goal is to honour the loved one, including their proudest moments and accomplishments.

Another important element of a personalized service is flexibility. I take pride in doing everything I can to accommodate special requests and above all, to respect the wishes of the family. I welcome their requests for music, readings, speakers and anything else that would help to create a meaningful service. There may even be moments when an unscripted touch of humour helps everyone to relax.

Finally, while there is a natural tendency to share as much as possible when a cherished life is being celebrated, I am aware that in these busy times attention spans are becoming shorter and shorter. That’s why I encourage families to strive for quality rather than quantity. A shorter service helps to keep people engaged, is easier to follow and can generate powerful lasting memories.

I am pleased to plan and conduct the service in the location of your preference and am honoured to serve everyone, regardless of faith, gender identity or belief practice.

Thank you for viewing this message, it would be my pleasure to be of service.
