End-of-Life/Death Doula

Imagine knowing that your end of life wishes will be upheld,
and that your loved ones will know what to do.

Death is inevitable and natural,
let’s make it the best we can.

With all the challenges we face in today’s busy world, it’s understandable why most of us don’t think about, or even talk about death. It’s normal to be hesitant about the unknown. Our brains are busy trying to predict what’s just around the corner, never mind what’s down the road. That’s why it's so helpful to prepare for the reality of death now. If there's an unexpected diagnosis, it’s easy to become overwhelmed with the needs of caregiving and not realize there are a world of options available to help ensure a “good death.”

My Role as a Death Doula

How a Death Doula can make a difference

For those caught off guard by a terminal diagnosis, dying can easily become a medicalized experience with the priority being to extend life in every way possible. While that intention is good, people may not realize the degree to which dignity and quality of life can suffer, especially in the final days after a person loses their ability to communicate.

Working with a doula in advance allows for the detailed planning that will generate feelings of control and calm. After options have been discussed and wishes recorded, everyone has a sense of relief knowing the groundwork has been laid for an experience filled with love and respect.

The most thoughtful gift you can give

Now is the time, when you are healthy, to give your loved ones a gift that could make an enormous difference. An Advance Care Plan will help to make your wishes clear and avoid the stress they may endure by having to guess where you would like to die, which medical interventions you would prefer to avoid, your funeral and burial preferences, etc. Working with me on an Advance Care Plan includes annual reviews, of course updates can be made at any time. Contact me today to help create a gift they will truly cherish.
